HALO
Inspired by the movements and striking lines typical of the 1970s, the HALO collection was created in 2017 and released in 2018 with the signature of 80e8 design and creative direction by Mariana Amaral. “I have been observing 80e8 for a few years and have always wanted to work with them, as they have always aroused my curiosity. Their 'Professor Sparrow' side of experimenting and leaving the commonplace makes them unique and extremely interesting ... But we also needed to test all this creativity on the shop floor, with products that could be produced on a large scale and meet market demands, in addition to enchanting our audience, increasingly demanding and thirsty for news ”.
The creative connection of the duo was the starting point for the creation of the pieces. With the HALO collection, designers explore their interest in Brazilianness and the bold style of the 1970s, a transgressive, controversial, and vibrant period. The pieces were composed of geometric patterns, striking and frequent shapes in the collections of the itens. The luminous bulb refers to the dance, discos, and freedom found in this very inspiring time. The rims rotate around a single axis and, as they have different sizes, cross each other allowing different configurations. Thus, it is possible to leave them all mixed, aligned, or semi-aligned, creating freedom for each one to use their imagination when choosing the final design of their lamp. The repetition of geometric shapes gives rise to volume, dimension, and movement. The collection has a lamp, wall light, and pendant, divided into two formats: Ellipse and Circle.
