BOTANICA
Inspired by the plant universe, the BOTANICA Collection was launched at the SP Design Week in 2019 and brings a challenging proposal within the brand's product portfolio. With eyes on the new and throbbing generation of designers in the face of current challenges and debates around the preservation of forests, Mariana Amaral, the brand's creative director, invited journalist and design critic Marcelo Lima to jointly think about a collection that focused on Brazilian botanical diversity. Based on the affinity of their works and vocations with the DNA of the São Paulo brand, four studios from the itens partner team - Ana Neute, 8e80, and Marcelo Caruso and Bruno de Carvalho - were listed by the Creative Director. They were joined by Lucas Lima and Murilo Weitz, nominated by the journalist and design critic (later these two names became the definitive team of collaborating designers of the brand). As a common challenge, combining inspiration and knowledge in the design of pieces in noble materials - such as metal, brass, and blown glass - capable of combining industrial procedures with handmade finishing and finishing details. “In addition to the diversity of materials, we also bet on researching techniques and manufacturing processes, as well as on the talent of artisans such as plastic artists Elvira Schuartz, responsible for the manufacture of glass pieces, and the community of Várzea Queimada in Piauí, who wove the straw baskets, both used in the manufacture of CABAÇA luminaires, signed by the revelation of our team, the incredible and promising designer from Piauí, Lucas Lima ”, celebrates Mariana. Another highlight is the GIRASSOL luminaire signed by Bruno de Carvalho, an extremely aesthetic and detailed designer. More than the shape of the flower itself, Bruno explored the textures of the piece, which is made of brass using the handcrafted hammering technique and has a beautiful and incomparable effect. The GIRASSOL luminaire is among the finalists for the CASA VOGUE 2019 Design Award.
Multi-talented, Murilo Weitz, also debuting in his collaboration with itens , bet on acrylic and brass to give life to the PILEA luminaire and toast us with a robust piece full of movement. Faithful collaborators of the brand, Marcelo Caruso, Ana Neute, and 80e8, enrich the BOTANICA collection with their striking features, respectively, in their creations COGUMELO, TAMARILHO, and PHYLO. "This is a collection where sensitivity and creativity are combined with the productive experience of items, resulting in pieces with personality, social responsibility, quality, and functionality", concludes Mariana. The collection includes lampshades, wall lights, pendants, and floor lamps.
